SEVEN WONDERS OF THE WORLD
The New Seven Wonders foundation made a call to the citizens of the world to select a new wonders which this was through voting via internet, it was a big success, as millions of people gave their opinion. The committee pre-selected 21 candidates and after many steps, they finally determined the results in July of 2007.
Three of the seven wonders are located in The Americas. First is CHICHEN ITZA located on the peninsula Yucatan. It was created by the Mayan people and built a city, was the political and economic center of the Mayan civilization. Another wonder is CHRIST THE REDEEMER which is located at the top of Corcovado Mountain in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is a symbol of kindness or warmth of the Brazilian people. And finishing with MACHU PICCHU, located in Peru, this city was built by the Incan people on a very high point, as if in the clouds.
In Europe there is one wonder: THE COLISSEUM in Rome. One of the reasons to build it was for celebrate the glory of theRomans. However, learn more about this place, we can find there were cruel fights and games all simply to entertain of the spectators.
And finally, the last three wonders are located in Asia: THE TAJ MAHAL, PETRA and GREAT WALL OF CHINA. The TAJ MAHALis in India and was ordered to be built by the emperor musulman Mogul to venerate to his beloved wife. Continuing with PETRA, located between the mountains of Jordan and was built throw the rocks and which only the European can visited it through guide in the age of World War I and which at the moment this named by UNESCO like “one of the most precious cultural properties of Man’s cultural heritage”. And to complete this wonders but not for that less important is GREAT WALL OF CHINA, located in this beautiful country, constructed to defend itself of Mongol tribes with thousands of people worked to build this construction.
